Once you've recorded your performance, mixing marks the start of post-production, where separate tracks recorded in a session are cleaned up, blended and balanced to sound good when played together in the overall mix.
With the usual tools like equalisation, compression, reverbs and delays at our disposal - plus the full suite of iZotope music production and audio clean-up - we'll reduce clashes between instruments, tighten grooves, and emphasize important song elements. Once finished, the mix will be ready for mastering, either here or elsewhere.
Mastering at its simplest is the process of taking the final mix of your performance and applying some finishing touches to prepare it for release and distribution - and can make the difference between a good and a great release. Typical steps include application of some equalisation, compression, limiting and other techniques to give your recording(s) a polished, consist character and even playback level.
Once you are happy with the mix of your performance, should you wish we can apply a range of mastering tools (less generally being more) to add that extra spark to your recording ready for release etc.
If you've already got your tracks or performance down elsewhere, you'll need to mix them to make sure they do your performance the credit it deserves. We can provide an on-line mixing service to do just that.
How does it work?
If you have a mix and you're maybe unhappy or unsure about it, we can also provide anything from a friendly impartial ear and some advice through to the nuclear option of a complete re-mix from the ground up (if you need).
Similar to on-line mixing, if you have a mix you are happy with but want a fresh, objective set of ears for that final step, we're here to help.
The process works in much the same was as our on-line mixing service - but we can also provide you with some mix-related guidance to make sure the files you upload are best-prepared for mastering.
